Folk Museum of the History of the Village and Agriculture of Stepove
Folk Museum of the History of the Village and Agriculture of Stepove
Stepove village, Mykolaiv Raion, Mykolaiv Oblast
The museum was founded in 2000 on the initiative of state farm (sovkhoz) director P. I. Pohorielov. The main fund comprises 1,300 museum artifacts, and the auxiliary research fund holds 2,000 items.
The current exhibition includes sections related to the history (formerly the German colony Karlsruhe in the Landau Volost, Odesa Uyezd of the Kherson Governorate) and the present day of the village. Notably, the museum features exhibitions rich in ethnographic and military-historical materials. The museum staff maintains correspondence with former residents of Stepove of German descent. This has allowed the museum not only to replenish its holdings with photographs and documents but also to create an exhibition section dedicated to their lives and activities during the period 1914–1944.
